5 Fish, You askrd earlier ig Wallace should have been "bold" Now you ask about "discretion".. You need to understand that subordinate generals were/are just what the term implies...subordinate. To be bold (and act independently) or to use discretion after receiving order from a commanding general is to achieve a status called "relieved!" Ed
