All good points Ole and others but I was basing my comments on Harold's statment that assuming they could be brought to bear (not if they could be brought to bear)they would be a minor nuisance. Assuming all the issues you all raised were not an issue and the guns were properly manned and pointed north it would have been an untenable situation for the Federals.
