I recently stayed at the Quality Inn at General Lees HQ. It is the last building in town on Buford Avenue and sits overlooking the ridges, and opposite the Seminary, where a lot of the 1st days action took place. Good clean hotel, not expensive, and great for taking an evening stroll out on the field and over to Oak Hill. They give you free entrance to the Gen. Lee HQ museum which is the front of the hotel, small but interesting. It is about as far from the VC as you can get whilst still staying in Gettysburg but even then it is only a 5 minute drive. Also has a restaurant amd micro brewery right next door. I will certainly stay there again next time.
