The harm is 'artistic license" that becomes "truth"...when in fact it is not. I doubt there has been a historical movie made anywhere at any time that was true to the book is was "based on" When you view a movie, you can only see thru the camera's eye... when you read a book, you see thru your mind's eye... and it is infinitely more varied
