And of course there are mutants like myself who would love to tromp the field during the day and visit the casino at night. Gettysburg at night is not the most exciting place.
I will agree with you here. I have stayed in casino/battlefield/ACW historical towns while on battlefield trips and have always enjoyed both.
In Buloxi (sp) we stayed in a casino hotel and got a cheap comfortable room and nightly entertainment. Same for Vicksburg. Spent all day at the battlefield, then to the tables at night...and a very good breakfast buffet to boot!
Stayed in Charles Town W.Va. at a motel close to a race track...way cool!! and a great meal.
Generally speaking, we like to find inexpensive places to sleep as we are gone all day, BUT we are way to old to do dives... nice room, good meals, cheap...now you're talkin
Casinos offer that!!
