Thank you for answering.....I have tried to find writings by contemporaries but have only come up with a small amount.....Elijah Gates who served under him and a few others. I have worked from the "inside our and outside in". I have recently decided to check neighbors from Dade Co. who wound up in TX both before and after the war. After over 50 years looking for him, I have decided if I don't find his date/place of death within the next year I will call it a day.....again, thanks for your thoughts.
