Ok, so if Division hospitals were orginaized into centrally located Corps Hospitals then we should probably figure out where the Corps hospital might have been to figure out how close it was to the fire. As the 17th Pa Cavalry/162 Pa Regiment was in the Cavalry Corps during the Wilderness, then I'd think look up where the the Cavalry Corps, and particulary it's 1st Division, was during the battle.

And we do have an idea where Troy was wounded. On May 6th the regiment was at Brock Road and the Furnaces according to http://www.pacivilwar.com/regiment/162nd.html.
