and even if the Confederates win the battle of Gettysburg, the ANV still could not have decisively crushed the Army of the Potomac, and Grant still would have taken Vicksburg. I really don't see this changing the war much. 1863 wasn't an election year, so the war policy would not have changed. Grant opening the Mississippi and the Emancipation Proclamation would have neutralized any diplomatic benefit in Europe. Just my $.02 Mark
