For the sake of argument, let's say seccession were legal...In my opinion, the prudence of any State government would allow that seccession is not something to be taken lightly....That is to say, I doubt any State would decide to secceede at the drop of a hat. Personally, I believe in the right to secceede.....Any territory that becomes a state would otherwise be stuck in the Union, without the ability to allow for the governance thereof based on the will of the people.....In a sense, if things got bad, they would be "trapped" into remaing a state......I say the lower 48 states should "rape" Alaska, take it's gold, it's oil, it's natural resources and use them fortheir benefit and there would not be a damn thing the people of Alaska could say about it.....Far-fetched??.....Yes....But the point is what possibilities are available to potentially happen?.....I think the right to secceede would add to our system of checks and balances...
