  Further illustrating what I said before about the difference between actual history and Hollywood's treatment of it, on the link below the screenwriter of the movie: "LINCOLN" admits to purposely distorting historical events. He says that this complies with: "Time honored and completely legitimate standards for the creation of historical drama."

  Apparently, if it is labelled: "Historical drama," that allows movie makers to not only be loose with historical facts, but to knowingly falsify them in order to try to produce the desired effect on the unknowing audience.
