There are 2 sides to the Forrest myth: his personal bravery, the many victories in battle, his rags-to-riches story and dynamic personality, and his post bellum defense for the Lost Cause. Then there is the butchery of black troops at Ft. Pillow, his association with the KKK, and his guerrilla warfare tactics. Obviously the truth lies somewhere between. However, in the great ebb and flow of the war in the west where do we find a Forrest action altering the general tide? HankC
