....but hadn't Lee's orders about avoiding a general engagement expired hours ago? The statement caught my eye as well. I think Ewell was justified in not taking the hill, and "if practicable" was the justification. Having been in a "general engagement" very nearly all day, it simply doesn't make sense to bring out and dust off the marching orders. Ole
