Fan: There can be no comparison. A half dozen guns firing as fast as they can just wouldn't come close to the banging going on as a prelude to Pickett's charge. The din would have been unimaginable and the movie "Gettysburg" was only a faint replication of what it must have been like. The bang you hear at enactments is maybe about half what a charged gun sounds like. The roar must have been deafening. Ole
