Yes there werea LOT of cannon there, but there were a LOT of cqnnon available to the Confederates as well...Ruggles Battery and the cannon that made it up comes immediately to mind.
Of course, Grant knew Buehl was coming....that knowledge probably dictated the course of events that afternoon and evening...He also knew Wallace would eventually quit wandering the Tennessee countryside and show up,as he did. He then had fresh troops to confront exhausted troops on day 2.What would have happened had Wallace and Buehl not shown up....that is the "what if" of Shiloh
