In looking at the Lincoln Presidency several things jump off the page...
1. The suspension of the "Writ"...sound familiar?
2. The imprisonment of the Maryland legislature...where is there constitutional grounds for that
3. The congressional Declaration of war against the CSA... Oh yea, there wasn't one...'twas a presidential decision. How many times previous to the CW did that happen...how many since?
4. The exile of Vallindgham
5. The insistance that he had special war powers...how many times was this invoked prior to the CW..how many times since?
It is true that FDR did vastly inflate the federal government, and the feds have encroached on individual liberty since Washington, but it was Lincoln that created the blueprint for all who followed him... and this is not "Nonsense"
