In listing all these great bands. I keep thinking of the music they played. Individual pieces of music come into my head. That music then triggers events in my life. We watch movies . They have a sound track. I think those of us that love different kinds of music have our own life sound track.
I would not rank Iron Butterfly up in the top five groups or albums. But just play the first five notes of Inagadadavita and I am back to the late 60's early 70's dancing my heart out . Earlier it was Louie Louie. Both songs I have no idea what most of the words are but I sure do know the songs

I hear the opening notes of Otis Reddings Sitting on the Dock of the Bay and I am driving to San Francisco. I mentioned in an earlier post California Dreamin reminds me of a rainy winter day in Southern California walking in the rain right after I got a letter from my penpal in Rhode Island who was yerning to get out of the snow to "sunny" California .
A Band called Hearts and Flowers had a song Rock and Roll Gypsy and the Buffalo Springfield had For What's It's Worth. Another band called Love had a song called Between Clark and Hilldale. {for those that don't know that was THE BLOCK of the Sunset strip in the 60's } I hear these songs I am there on the Sunset Strip hanging out with the craziest bunch of people I have ever known.

Four years ago I actually stood on the Corner in Winslow Arizona and it was such a fine sight to see. They have a small park dedicated to the song . There is a statue of a young guitarist circa early 1970's. The wall of the building has a mural made to look like a store window and reflected in the window is a girl in a flat bed Ford and I am sure she is slowing down to take a look at that guitar player. There is a sign too that explains why this park is there .

When I drove cross country before I got my iPod. I had a cd holder packed with cds. I played music that fit the area as I drove, Eagles driving in to Winslow Arizona of course, El Paso when I hit that town. Cajun music in Eunice La. Neville Brothers in to New Orleans, Driving across Texas with cowboy music, old tyme fiddle and banjo music in South Carolina I never leave home that I don't start a trip with out playing Willie , On the Road Again .
Anyone else have a sound track?
