Here's some photo's of what I'm working on at the moment for those that have shown an interest in my figure painting projects. To give you an idea of size it is 3/4 of an inch from the shoulders to the top of the kepi. If anyones interested I'll post pictures as I go so you can see the process. All comments and constructive criticism welcome. Any points about the Confederate artillery arm, uniform and equipment would be nice too. Roger ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thank you Rob. A lot of yesterday was spent painting the jacket. I'll post some photo's later so you can see the progress made. Roger Last edited on Thu Oct 11th, 2007 05:37 am by Roger |

This is the progress so far. For all intents and purposes the head, inc kepi, or is it a forage cap? Roger ![]()

My understanding, Roger, is that what he is wearing is a kepi. The "forage cap" is similarly shaped, but taller and floppier. Supposedly, the forage cap served as a bucket when foraging, with the band serving as the bail. It could carry a lot of eggs or potatoes and such. ole

I was thinking along those lines ole. The kepi being more of a "dress" cap and the forage cap worn in "undress" or for "fatigues". Like all things in wartime I imagine availability and comfort decided what was worn and when. Roger

Ed, no the the reddy brown colour on the bino case is paint. The figure comes in a creamy coloured resin. You can see it on the gauntlet on the left hand where I scraped off some paint to remove a mould line. I should have removed that first before priming but somehow missed it. After the figure is cleaned up it's sprayed with automtive primer and then I start slapping the paint on. Roger For color read colour, lol!!!
