Greetings,

After eight long years, I am finally returning to the hobby.  With the help of some friends, I am forming a new cavalry unit in Ohio (with some members in Indiana).  The new unit is B Company (tentatively), 2nd US Cavalry Regiment (Mounted).

We do not expect to be ready to take the field until spring, but in the meantime, I thought it a good idea to start making new friends and catch up on all the good, bad, and ugly I've missed over the past few years. :)

Shane

Hello Trooper.

Do you have to train the horses specially so that they are not frightened by the noise of cannons or gunfire?

Good luck with the unit.

Yes, we have to train them to be used to the sound of battle. Nothing worse than a freaked out horse running amuck on the battlefield. Unless its a freaked out horse running amuck on the battlefield while dragging its rider behind it. :)
