I watched this old made for TV movie a couple of weeks ago and I must say it was not too bad. Sam Waterston played honest Abe and Mary Tyler Moore played...Mary Todd lincoln. Aside from some really bad stock re-enactor footage that was used to depict every battle(Fredericksburg in the summer anyone?) it was historically on reasonably solid footing.

Waterston makes a good Lincoln, but I'm interested in finding out if anyone remembers the series on Sandburg's Lincoln that came out in the 70's or 80's with Hal Holbrook. I remember he looked and sounded remarkably good. Anyone know if this is available on DVD?

Not on DVD, and it hasn't been on TV in years.

last time I saw Holbrook as Lincoln was when the Disney Channel re-ran it about 10 years ago

Movies are made with whatever clips they can find cheaply. You will see the same clips in every CW documentary ever made. December. July. No matter. 99 out of 100 people are not going to know what you know, so they can get away with it. Besides, how much difference does it make? (Other than being offensively inaccurate to a sub-sub-set of viewers.)

No one is going to stage a reenactment at Fredericksburg in December for the sake of a minor point of accuracy.
