I need to do a report of something from the fifties and I chose to do the Inchon Invasion of North Korea from the Korean War. I wanted to start my paper off with a good quote of the invasion, but I found nothing. Now I don't know if there are any Korean War buffs here, but do any of you know a good quote of Inchon Invasion or a site that might have quotes of it?

No quotes here. But if that audacious invasion had failed, general MacArthur would have been pilloried. Big time. He drew against an inside straight and got the middle card. This sort of decision-making is what makes or breaks a commander. No one in his right mind would have bet on the tide to get in there and unload divisions with the support required to get something done. Shovelling back some years, no one, in his right mind, would have invaded France on the say so of a meteoroligist who has little more than a guess at a window. Accidents of history? Or somebody just got lucky? Ole

"I predict that large-scale amphibious operations will never occur again." Truman's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Omar N. Bradley, October 1949 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We'll never have any more amphibious operations. That does away with the Marine Corps. And the Air Force can do anything the Navy can do nowadays, so that does away with the Navy." Truman's Secretary of Defense Louis A. Johnson, to Admiral Richard L. Connally in 1949
