I found a song by Tim O'Brien called Pretty Fair Maid, and it sounds like a traditional song and that anyone could cover it. Does anyone know if there is any other newer popular music about the Civil War?

Only new thing I can come up with is a few years old now. Bob Dylan's Cross th Green Mountain that he did for Gods and Generals. One of the few things I like about that movie.

Get a copy of "White Mansions"......I think it came out in the '70's.....It features Waylon Jennings, Jessee Coulter and others, telling the story from the points of view of a wealthy Southern Planter, a wealthy young lady, a poor drifter, etc.....One of my favorites that I wore the album out, had to get it on tape untill that broke, the finally got it on cd!!
