Going to Spotsylvania next week. Any good wineries in the area for after battlefield visiting and tasting?

Don't know if this is the right place for this or not, javal. Coming Wednesday I'm going to be heading out to California for about a month. I'm taking my laptop so hopefully I should still be able to get online and post. But just incase I can't wanted to give a heads up as to why I'm not posting.

Ok, know now that I will be able to post. My sister has wi-fi so I can get on with my laptop. So I shouldn't be in a position of being unable to post for the coming month.

In the 1960s I lived as a kid in Northern California. Twenty years later I went to grad school and worked in Southern California. It's funny how it still has such a distinctive north-south divide, without even a war. California is special: Redwoods, Pacific, vineyards, farms, beaches, desert, gold rush, not a blueblood today who wouldn't be laughed out of town -- no place like it. She's still my favorite state, not least for her fair women and weather. Enjoy your time and all the best, Hellcat. :)

Hope all is well, gentlemen, and you are enjoying a hot summer. Tell my old friends on the trail I still miss'em.

I've been contemplating a swamp cooler for my room, wondering. With the temps been having of late I can take a dry heat, but it's tended to be dry and humid, so it's hot and muggy.

I love a dry heat, but this summer so many forest fires round here. Good to see you, Hellcat.

Dry heats nice because it doesn't feel hotter than it is. Getting the humidity with the heat just makes it fell hot and muggy. Really hate it when it's a high humidity so you feel like you walked into a wall when you step outside. Days like that would love to be able to package up the humidity and mail it to my baby sister in California, they could use the moisture out there. Looking at the tomato garden we could use a good soaking rain over humidity (which we did have rain that prompted flash flood warnings on Saturday though I'm not sure how much of a soaking rain that actually ended up being).

Sorry to hear you're experiencing forest fires this summer, that's never a good thing. Well, not never. Something they don't tend to talk about is how forest fires can be a good thing as they do get rid of a lot of dead vegetation and help make room for new growth. Also some vegetation actually needs the heat from the fires in order to release their seeds. But out of control forest fires and an area constantly suffering forest fires is never a good thing. And, of course, it's not a good thing when folks loose their lives to forest fires.

It's good to hear from you and ole, Wondering. With the way this year has been going on the boards, it's good to hear from any actual person and great to see folks returning who were on before November.
