Ran across this posting on the gettysburg battlefield guide site. Thought it might interest those of you who like trivia (couldn't think of a better term). Some of these took quite a bit of research.

Thanks Doc,

I usaually get to Gettysburg 10 to 12 times a year. Now I have a new challange when I go. Try to find all 140 places.

Heres a link to rock carvings on the battlefield that you guys can hunt for. It was lots of fun. Happy hunting.

no problem, just make sure you wear good shoes, some of the places are off the beaten path.

One of my guide friends told me that in reality, most guides don't know half of those places. I find that easy to believe considering I basically live there and have never even heard of most of them.

I checked out the list and was (pleasantly) surprised to find that I knew and had visited quite a few of them!  I might like to add the marker for "Co.B, 20thME".. which is half hidden as you go up LRT; go to the right at the base, right before going up the hill.

I wish there was something they would do for the rock carvings! Specifically, Vincent's Rock.  I nearly pushed some yahoo off not long ago when he attempted to climb on it.  The carving there is almost gone; other carvings stand out very clear (Coble(sp?) is one).
